A beautiful Saturday was in store for race fans as Cleveland Speedway hosted Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals Super Late Model series for a 50-lap event.

In a repeat finish from March’s ShamRock event, Randy Weaver, of Crossville, spun his web of victory after early race leader Skip Arp yielded to mechanical problems on lap 17.

As Weaver inherited the lead, Derek Ellis, Mike Marlar and Billy Ogle Jr. went at it for the remaining 30-plus circuits, tracking the leader by more than 10 car lengths at times. At the race conclusion, Marlar and Ogle got by Ellis and again, just like the ShamRock, followed Weaver to victory.

Weaver had the fast time over the 25-car field with a 13.546-second lap. A pair of heat races were contested and won by Indiana’s Steve Casebolt and North Carolina’s Shawn Chastain.

David Payne, third in points, suffered a broken rear end in his heat race and piloted Sammie Russell's car in the feature to maintain his points stature. A four car pile-up slowed the race on lap four when Ryan King collected Bryan Hendricks, Jeff Franklin and Hunter Peacock on the front straight. The locked-in top four from Group-A were Weaver, Marlar, Ogle and local racer Riley Hickman. The top four from group B were Arp, Ellis, Stacy Boles and Mark Vineyard.

In other racing action, a pair of A-1 Towing race cars made it to victory lane. Rick Hixson, of Soddy-Daisy, won the LLM Steel-head feature and teammate Lamar Scoggins, of Georgetown, won the Crate LM feature. Peebo Glen Seaton, of Cleveland, won the A-Hobby, Dallas Brooks, of Chattanooga, won the B-Hobby and E.J Bailey of Chattanooga took the Pony/FWD feature.
