The Rev. William Edward Shields, 57, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 13, 2013, at the family residence.
He was the son of the late Lucille Williams Shields and W. D. Shields. His sister also preceded him in death.
He was a truck driver most of his life and he enjoyed building things. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he was a member of the Freedom Worship Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Francis Shields of Cleveland; his stepdaughters: Robbin Gail Swindle of Conasauga, and Pamela Francis Haggard of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; his great-grandchildren,: Marissa Graham, Meagan Dunn, Haley Dunn, Destiny Gibson, Madison Swindle, Lila Swindle, Hunter Villanueva, Corbin Graham and Adyen Keith; his brothers: David Lee Shields of Cleveland and Donald Shields of Waycross, Ga.; his sisters-in-law: Ethelene Graham, Penny Dunn and her husband, Andrew, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2013, at 3 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Jessie Millsap and the Rev. Sharon Barker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Cemetery with Megan Dunn, Penny Dunn, Andrew Dunn, Edward Swindle, Camden Swindle, Danny Prince Sr., David Graham and David Shields officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
