William O. “Bill” Davis Sr., 83, a resident of Calhoun, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at a Chattanooga hospital.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 32nd Degree Freemason, as well as a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Polly Calfee Davis; parents, Briz and Angie Walker Davis; and a brother, Dewey “Bud” Davis.

He is survived by his loving children; William “Billy” Davis of Calhoun, Linda Davis Forrester and husband, David, of Cleveland, JoAnn Davis Parrish of Cleveland, Cathy Davis Gee and husband, Johnny, of Calhoun, Sandra Davis Beard of Calhoun, Christine Davis Rutledge and husband, Daniel, of Calhoun, Fay C. McDaniel, a daughter by choice for 40 years and husband, Archie, of Cleveland; sisters; Gladys Wallace and husband, Jack, and Sammie Jean Allen, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren: David Forrester, Dr. Brandon Forrester, Anjie Callahan, Dr. Jake Parrish, Jarrod Gee, Pansy Beard, Samuel Beard, Biller Lynn Piner, Jesse Davis, Murphy Davis, and Alexis Rutledge; a lifelong friend, Bob Brinkley; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family extends appreciation to Donna Chanclor, Kathy Lewellyn, Tony Pharr and Tracy Van Nostran of Guardian Healthcare of Cleveland.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Kinser Church of God, with Pastor Guinn Green officiating.

Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kinser Church of God.

He worked tirelessly in his endeavors to raise funding for disabled children.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, (Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa FL 33607) in memory of Bill Davis.
