William Thomas “Tommy” Weathers Jr., 70, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at his residence.

He was the owner of Tommy’s Recycling for 21 years.

He was an avid fisherman and Braves baseball fan. He was widely known and respected for his 40-plus years of professional wrestling officiating. He was a professional referee from the age of 17 and was inducted into The National Wrestling Alliance “Hall of Fame” on Aug. 5, 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Thomas Weathers Sr. and Ruby Louise Pope Weathers; and brothers: David Andrew and Jerry Dean Weathers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley McEntire Weathers; sons: Randall Weathers and Jason Weathers; stepsons: Anthony and Milford Weathers II; daughter, Cheryl and husband Charles Knox; brother, Milford Weathers I and wife, Becky; sister, Theresa Weathers Goodwin and husband, Donald “Ducky” Goodwin; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Weathers Price and Ida Mae Weathers; his best friend since the age of 17, Ronnie West; special friend, Alicia Hale; and beloved daughter-in-law, Teresa “Pint” Peirce. He will also be sadly missed by his enormous wrestling family, countless friends and acquaintances.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Simmons, Jim Powell and Art Pflug officiating.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Lee Cemetery.

Tyler Weathers, Rodney West, Brent West, Kenneth Roark, Mack McMurray, Larry Cheataham and Tyler Black will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
