William (Fred) Wilson, 79, of Old Fort, went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 22, 2013, in Etowah Healthcare Center.

He was employed by Hardwick Stove and Maytag for 37 years. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Irene Wilson; brothers: Joe, Eugene, Clarence and Leslie Wilson; and a sister, Ruth Mantooth.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Ross Wilson; daughter, Heather Wilson-Cruz and husband, Alfonso; grandson, Nicholas Cruz; sisters: Naomi Mantooth, Martha Brown and Mary Evans; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Smyrna Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Parm, Joe Hatcher and Marvin Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Dill Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smyrna Baptist Church.
