April was a very busy month for the members of Xi Delta Phi. They began by welcoming another new member, Cherie’ Sneed, into the group. During the monthly meeting, the election of officers for 2012 – 2013 was held.

Officers elected are as follows: Margie White, president; Karen Griffith, vice president; Linda Parkinson, secretary; and Billie Ammons, treasurer.

The new calendar year will start on Beginning Day which will be held on Aug. 26 with a luncheon at the elegant Lace Emporium. Beginning Day is celebrated with the international headquarters of Beta Sigma Phi and members around the world who will be starting their 81st year.

Beta Sigma Phi was founded by Harold Ross who had a vision to answer a need for women to come together promoting life, learning and friendship within the organization, our communities — now 81 years later around the world.

Founder’s Day was also celebrated during the month of April with members of Xi Delta Phi and other Cleveland clubs coming together with a dinner to honor the beginning of Beta Sigma Phi. Xi Delta Phi won the award for first place for the member yearbook.

Members ended the month by attending a tea at The Garden Tea Room located in Ooltewah, which was called “Pink In The Park.” Part of the proceeds that day was donated in support of breast cancer. International Beta Sigma Phi also awards funds raised from membership to this worthy cause.
