RONDA PHILIPS’ second-grade class at Yates Primary School recently studied communities of the past, present and future. To celebrate the end of this unit they held their “School Day from Long Ago” celebration. Phillips and her student teacher, Drew Hannigan, asked the students to dress like students from long ago, eat foods from long ago and study with blackboards and candlelight. Front row, from left, are Reed Smith, Will McGinnis, Bennett Smith, Jonathan Minter and Maddox Pendergrass. At back, with Hannigan, are Robert Conley, Zion Walkes, Chase Reese, Walker Hill and Ross Thompson.
YATES PRIMARY SCHOOL second-grade students made butter and yarn dolls, wrote on chalk boards and used natural light. The children really enjoyed learning and seeing first hand how schools were in the 1900s. Front row, from left, are Raven Williams, Amber Baxter Hembree, Aaliyah Smith and Maizie Gillespie. At back are Olivia Workman and Hannah Jones.
