Young, Gregg, Raper claim Junior Golf wins

OOLTEWAH — A trio of local golfers brought home first place finishes from the Tennessee golf Association’s Junior Tour Tuesday from the Champions Club at Hampton Creek.

Walker Valley High school golfer Cortnee Young took top honors in the Girls 15-18 Masters Division, outdistancing her nearest opponent by a half dozen strokes. Young fired an 11-over 83.

Cleveland’s Kassey Gregg ran away with the Girls 11-14 Tour class, firing a nine-hole total of 52, which was 21 strokes better than her nearest competition. Katie Medley, also of Cleveland, came in third in the division with a 77.

Polk County standout Brock Raper claimed a three-stroke victory in the Boys 16-18 Tour division, firing an 87.

Cleveland’s Garrett Cantrell earned a third place finish in the Boys 14-15 Tour class with a 94, while Bryson Riggs was fifth in the Boys 16-18 Masters with an 86.

Zachery Kilby of Charleston finished seventh in the Boys 14-15 Masters with a 99, while Cleveland’s Nicholas McCracken tied for sixth in the Boys 10-13 Tour with a 52 and McDonald’s Austin Norman tied for 11th in the same class with a 61.
