4-Hers from Polk County attended the Eastern Region 4-H Fashion and Design Conference recently at Pigeon Forge. During the conference the youth sewed rag pillows, made memory boards, learned felting and modeling tips, attended the Dixie Stampede dinner show and much more! The 4-Hers had the opportunity to model in “Fashion Sense” in which they were judged on their choice of clothing and accessories as well as their consumer savvy and oral presentation or a garment they had sewn in the “Fashion Revue.” Susan Stewart from Polk County was first-place winner in the 12th grade advanced sewing category. Bayleigh Davis was the second- place winner in the seventh-grade Fashion Sense division. Alexis Bramlett place third in the ninth-grade Fashion Sense competition and Abigail Firestone placed second in 10th-grade Fashion Sense. Seth Cartwright, son of Tim and Annette Cartwright of Germantown and the grandson of Eddie and Milteen Cartwright of Cleveland, has been selected as a player on the Tennessee eighth-grade All-Star team. Seth, a rising freshman at Houston High School in Germantown, was chosen from a field of nearly 300 participants across the state. He was voted best offensive player on the Houston High Jr. High team. He is a tailback, kicks off, kicks extra points and returns punts. The game will be televised by Fox Sports. Seth’s father, Tim, is a former Bradley football Bear.
