ROME, Ga. — The Cleveland State baseball Cougars stretched their winning streak to five games Wednesday with a 12-1 triumph over the Shorter University junior varsity squad in Rome, Ga.
Tucker Mendenhall led the charge, going 2 fo 5 at the plate with three RBIs. Lance Dockery and Rhett Baldwin recorded two RBIs. Both Cougars recorded solo homers. Andrew Carpenter also drove in two runs.
On the mound, Justin Morris started the game and secured the win, allowing just one hit and striking out three in three innings of work. Five Cleveland State pitchers combined to give up just four hits and strike out six, while allowing just one run.
The Cougars will head back to Cougar Field today to open their final regular season home series of the year, against conference foe Southwest Tennessee. First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
