Cleveland State Community College's volleyballers faced Catawba Valley on Thursday night, losing in straight sets.
It was a hard-fought battle between the two teams as they faced each other for the first time since the inception of CSCC volleyball. Catawba Valley came into the match holding a 17-7 record, 3-1 on the road and 3-5 at neutral sites. Cleveland State came into the match 8-11 at home and 4-3 on the road.

It was a back-and-forth affair between the two squads, but Catawba narrowly skated past Cleveland State to take a 2-0 match lead. The third and final set went to Catawba by a score of 25-13.
Cleveland State is 1-4 in its last five games and will look to turn things around as the Lady Cougars prepare for a road match against Patrick Henry Community College at the Walters State volleyball facility.
