Auditions set for student-directed Children’s Theater at the Arts Center in Athens

ATHENS — Athens Community Theatre announces auditions for the spring 2019 play, adapted by Brainerd Duffield and based on the stories of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." Two opportunities to audition are Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. and Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at The Arts Center.
Show dates for “Alice in Wonderland” are April 5 through 14.

Alice plunges down the rabbit hole and becomes involved in the madcap and deliciously satiric series of adventures immortalized by Lewis Carroll. Dramatized by Brainerd Duffield as a series of 14 episodes from  “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass,” this is a kaleidoscope of action and madness, with the necessary elements of suspense and frustration to make it all work.

ACT seeks around 20 young actors in grades 2-12 for this second-annual student-directed play.
“Alice in Wonderland” is directed by ACT veteran actor and director Jedi Gabel.
Bethany Carideo, ACT veteran and president of Athens Area Council for the Arts’ Teen Advisory Board, is assistant director, and Camden Parr, another ACT veteran and TAB vice president, is stage manager.

Everyone auditioning will be asked to read from the script. No advance preparation is required. Anyone interested in working with the production in any capacity (set and costume construction, technical crew, backstage crew) is encouraged to attend an audition.

The Arts Center is located at 320 North White St. in downtown Athens.
For more information call The Arts Center at 423-745-8781.
All productions of Athens Community Theatre are sponsored by Dogwood Dental Care, Grover Thurman CPA, Muddy Waters Wine & Spirits, and Starr Regional Medical Center and additional support for this production comes from Covenant Pediatrics.
