Betty Jo Tilley Whiteside, 81 of Riceville, passed away in a Cleveland hospital.
She was a native of Tellico Plains, and the daughter of the late William Tipton and Bertha Emily Lenderman Tilley. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Paul Eugene Tilley, Stanley Tilley, Leo Tilley and Arvil Tilley; sisters: Lura Mae Everhart, Loetta Walker, Wanda Watson and Geraldine Tilley.
She was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church and Order Eastern Star Chapter No. 159.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James A. (Jack) Whiteside of Riceville; two daughters and son-in-law, Renee Whiteside of Riceville, and Cindy and Clarence Dewayne Partin of Dayton; two grandaughters: Laura Partin Thayer and Jennifer Partin Falin; future great-grandaughter, Amelia Kate Thayer; sister, Gladys Green of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, in Calhoun First Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin Cheatham and Barry Purser officiating. Interment will follow in Calhoun Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens. The body be at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
