George R. “Bob” Hughes, 76, a lifelong resident of Charleston, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his home.
He served in the National Guard and attended Charleston First Baptist Church. He was best known for his service as Bradley County Road Superintendent for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.L. and Ruth Hughes; and brother, H.L. Hughes Jr.
Survivors include his daughter, Bobbie Jo Henry (Bryan) of Charleston; granddaughter, Kylie Henry of Charleston; brother, Bill Hughes (Grace); sisters: Jo Lyle and Alice Miller (John); and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Moats officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jeff Spence, Shane Hughes, Dewey Hughes, Bryan Henry, Sam Trewhitt and Rusty Powell serving as pallbearers. Billy Lyle will serve as honorary pallbearer.
His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
