Carolyn Faye Burris, 69, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, died Monday morning, Sept. 11, 2017, in a local hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Eula Paul West and the Rev. Bud West. Her sister, Gladys Bullard, also preceded her in death.
At the time of her death, she worked for Lee University with nine years of service. She enjoyed working with crafts, antiques and sewing. When it comes to sewing, there is nothing she could not make.
She was considered a selfless, compassionate lady and she loved giving of herself and doing anything to take care of her family. She was a member of the Cleveland Baptist Temple.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Ephron L. Burris of Cleveland; her daughter, Marquetta Burris and her son, Nathan Burris, both of Cleveland; her sister, Judy Toomey of Cleveland; her brothers, Lonnie West of Pittsboro, N.C., and Walter West and Ralph West, both of Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Remembrance of Life graveside service and interment will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at 2 p.m. from the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Greg Rush officiating.
The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, Wildwood Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
