Clifford Robert “Bobby” Hodges, 76, a resident of Cleveland, and formerly of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at his home.

Bobby worked for the Post Office for more than 40 years before he retired. He also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, as well as retired from the 181st Army National Guard. He served in the 196th artillery in the Gulf War in Kuwait. He was also a Mason in Fort Oglethorpe, Tompkins Lodge No. 466. Bobby was of the Baptist faith. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, riding motorcycles, and Georgia Bulldogs football.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Willard Hodges.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bettye Anne Hodges, of Cleveland; his daughter, Wendy (Michael) Ryans of Rossville; son, Kevin (Kris) Hodges of Normandy; stepdaughter, Jamie (Bryan) Norman, of McDonald; stepson, Jason (Lisa) Woodall of Cleveland. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Alyssa, Tucker, Austin, Savannah, Kane, and Trevor; his great-granddaughter, Kinsley; and brothers, Lamar (Brenda) Hodges of Rossville and Mike (Shelby) Hodges of Orlando, Fla..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice, or to your local animal shelter.

The funeral will be held 4 p.m. today. May 26, 2019, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating.

A military burial will follow on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will celebrate his life with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
