Reopening still late April, early May

Work is progressing on getting the Bradley Courthouse back into regular operations.

The new HVAC system, which has been specially designed for the courthouse, has now arrived and is now being stored in the basement.

Workers recently placed portions of what will be the new HVAC system on the roof.

Much of that work can’t continue until other repairs and renovations can progress further.

“The insurance has now approved the idea of a sprinkler system,” said Mayor D. Gary Davis. “They now have to get the architect’s drawings of the sprinkler system and they have to get the price they can agree to and that can take weeks.”

“The New wiring will go in, new internet will go in and new sprinkler water pipes will go up there,” he said. “That all has to happen before they can put the ceilings in.”

“It’s not that it’s on hold, it can just take weeks to get the next answer,” Davis said.

“That part from the fire had been sitting on hold and the ESG part was on hold because everything was still on order,” he said.

Davis said the Annex is now beginning to get its energy makeover as new windows are now being installed in that facility.

The mayor said the goal remains for the courthouse to be up and running by late April or early May.
