Deonnia J. Baxter, 80, of Old Fort, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at a Chattanooga health care facility.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Louise Jenkins Hooker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Winston Baxter; and her brothers: Doug and Trewitt Hooker.
Deonnia retired from the Polk County School System as a long-time cafeteria worker, working at several schools in Polk County.
She is survived by her son, Bryan Baxter; her daughter, Shaune Ledford and her husband, Damon; her grandchild, Daniel Ledford; her sister, Henrrita Coffee; her brothers: the Rev. Kinzel Hooker and Tim Hooker; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Street Chapel, with the Rev. Stephen Smith officiating. The interment followed at Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, with family and friends serving as casket bearers.
