Dorothy Beard

Dorothy Beard, 91, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. 

She was born on Nov. 7, 1927, in Malden, Mo., to Arthur and Hattie Cox. She was raised and lived in Flint, Mich., most of her life. She was an active member of the West Flint Church of God, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. 

In 2002, Dorothy moved to Cleveland, to spend her remaining years near her three sons and their families, and became a member of North Cleveland Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Hattie Cox; three brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by her three sons: Kenneth Beard and wife, Judy, Keith Beard and wife, Kitty, and Rick Beard and wife, Rhonda; 13 grandchildren: Brian Beard and wife, Janna, Darleah Terrell and husband, Blaine, Blake Beard and wife, Jessica, Apryle Griffith, Brant Beard and wife, Molly, Jamie Mlinarich and husband,Matt, and Lindsay Simpkins and husband, Josh; 14 great-grandchildren: Blakely Dillard and husband, Tanner, Baylor Terrell, Blaire Terrell, Braylon Beard, Bryant Beard, Mitchell Hudson, Carter Hudson, Embry Beard, Corrina Beard, Sadie Beard, Carson Mlinarich, Olivia Mlinarich and Fischer Mlinarich.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Monday, July 15, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m.

A memorial service in celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held Monday, at 2 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of God World Missions, 2490 Keith St. N.W., Cleveland, TN  37311.
