Everett Clyde German

Everett Clyde “Cotton” German, 89, of Birchwood, passed away on Dec. 17, 2017. 

He was born on Nov. 3, 1928, to the late Everett C. German Sr. and Jessie Maude German. 

He was a lifelong resident of this area and a diesel mechanic by trade.  He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Iceland during the Korean war.  He was of the Church of God faith. 

He was a tremendous mechanic and excellent handyman who could fix anything.  He loved working on cars, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Kenneth German.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 64 years, Phyllis German; three children: Pamela Cofer (Dennis), Chris German (Kim) and Amy Lemons (Danny); sisters: Wava Patterson, Wilma Pickel of Chickamauga, Ga., and Kaye Steadman of Rock Springs, Ga.; grandchildren: Casey Cofer, Emily German, Kristie German and Jennifer Lemons; great-grandchildren: Averi Pearson, Thea Pearson, and Camden Calhoun; and  numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Companion Funeral Home

.A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with the. Guinn Greene officiating.  Interment will follow the service at McInturff Cemetery.
