Frances Sherrill

Frances Ruth Sherrill, 76, a resident of Athens, passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2019, at her home.

She was born in Cleveland, on Feb. 9, 1943, a daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Underwood.

She was a member of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church. Frances loved fishing and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: George Underwood, Edward Underwood, Bennett Underwood and Gene Underwood. 

Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory her fiancé, John McInnis Jr.; four children: Darrin Sherrill and wife, Nancy, Leslie Womac and husband, Jeff, Lisa Scoggins and husband, Chris and Teresa Booth; one sister, Linda Smith (Jack); one brother, Clyde Underwood; six grandchildren: Ben Sherrill (Brittany), Jacob Sherrill, Paige Jenkins (Jonathan), Alex Womac, Daniel Scoggins and Audrey Scoggins; eight great-grandchildren: Alexis Mitchell, Hayden Sherrill, Cole Medek, Brantley Sherrill, Sam Jenkins, Andrew Jenkins, Kylie Scoggins and Bentley Scoggins; and numerous other extended family members, her church family, and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday,  from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Clingan Ridge Baptist Church, located at 2412 Georgetown Road N.W. in Cleveland. 

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the New Friendship Cemetery, with the Rev. Jonathan Jenkins officiating.
