Henry Burton Hawkins, 88, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at his residence following an extended illness.
He enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, antique tractors and cutting wood. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Gladys “Myrta” Hawkins; and two brothers: Edward and Freddie Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilma Hawkins; a son, Myron Hawkins (Donna); daughters: Melanie McClure and Melissa “Lisa” Hicks (Danny); a brother, Ennis Hawkins (Sandy); sisters: Ruth Ensley (Glen), Betty Bishop, and Irene Reagan; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Union Missionary Baptist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019, at 3 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Jack Epperson and the Rev. Larry Humbard officiating. Burial will follow in Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
