Jessie Lee Boyd, 89, of Charleston, who was born June 22, 1929,  departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at a local health care facility in Cleveland.

She was a lifetime member of Mount Eagle Baptist Church in Charleston.
She was involved in several ministries, hospitality committee, usher board and missionary department.

She was previously employed by Magic Chef, and a housekeeper for several families in Cleveland.

She was preceeded in death by a daughter, Brenda Morgan; parents, Curtis and Ida Mae Arnold; her brother, Curtis Arnold; and three sisters: Frankie Massengill, Mary Ruth McCleary, and Delores Mack; and husband of  25 years, Kenneth Boyd.

She is survived by her sons: Clarence McCarver Jr. (Jocelyn), Bobby McCarver and Kenneth Boyd (Patti); daughters: Debra Lattimore (Martin) and Sara Smith (Calvin); many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home-Athens, with the Rev. Aubrey Ector delivering the eulogy, and the Rev. Edward Robinson Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home, from 1 until 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe and Alan Kirkpatrick, Ken Boyd, Garry Massengill Jr., and Ashtin and David Lattimore. Flower bearers will be Alisha Lewis, Jessika McCarver, Whitley and Nicole Smith and Danessa Boyd.

The family thanks Life Care of Cleveland and Hearth Hospice for their kindness during mom’s illness.
