John D. Myers, 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Memorial Hospital.
He was always in a positive mood with a smile on his face and a story to share. He knew how to fix just about anything and worked hard for his family. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Paris. France. John was in the fiberglass boat repair business for many years and owner of Myers Products.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Esther Pierce Myers; and sister, Ann Glasscock.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Virginia Miller Myers of Cleveland; children: Melinda Andersen (Jeff) of Cleveland, Jana Machaskee (Mike) of Chattanooga, and David Myers (Tisha) of Cleveland; grandchildren: Briana Howard (Cole Hyde) of Georgetown, Aaron Andersen of Cleveland, Ethan Myers, Cameron Myers and Garrett Andersen; great-grandchildren: Brian David Hyde; and one sister, Becky Myers Garrett (Norval) of Murfreesboro.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 2, 2017, at Big Spring Baptist Church. A service will be held at 7 p.m. at Big Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Malone officiating.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Chestuee Methodist Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Norval Garrett, Eddie Glasscock, Jeff Andersen, Aaron Andersen, Cole Hyde, Mike Machaskee.
The family requests donations be made to Big Spring Baptist Church in his memory.
