Kathreen L. Smith, 77, of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, surrounded by family.

Kathie was born on June 25, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minn. She was the daughter of the late William and Roberta Lorenz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry F. Smith, and her sister, Suzanne Lewellyn.

She attended the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, where she earned a bachelor of science and master's degree in education. At UTC, she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.

She was a longtime educator in the Cleveland City Schools until her retirement in 1980, at which time she worked alongside her husband, Henry F. Smith, becoming an owner/operator of McDonald's Restaurants.

Kathie was a member of the Cleveland Country Club and the Vineyards Country Club in Naples, Fla., where she was an avid golfer and where she enjoyed playing tennis. She had the opportunity to play many of the nation’s top golf courses.
