Jessica McIntyre has been promoted to the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Affairs the Lee University Athletic Department announced.
McIntyre has served the last six years in a variety of roles for Lee Athletics, including the last four years as the Director of Internal Affairs and was instrumental in navigating Lee through the NCAA Division II Membership Process. McIntyre has also helped to establish a positive environment for student athlete growth beyond the playing field with wellness initiatives such as the Life Skills program.
As the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Affairs McIntyre will oversee Compliance, Sports Medicine, Athletic Facilities, Title XI, Life Skills and the NCAA/GSC Partnership.
"This is a great opportunity for Jessica. She has become an important member of our athletic department over the past six years," said Lee Vice President for Operations, Cole Strong. "She started as an intern during our transition to NCAA DII and has worked diligently to earn this new role as assistant athletic director for internal affairs. We are proud of her and look forward to our continued work together."
McIntyre received her master's degree in Sport Administration from Belmont University in 2012. While completing her degree she served as a Compliance Intern where she composed waivers as necessary, researched and provided rules interpretations to coaches and athletic staff and maintained and regulated practice hours for each sport.
"Jessica has been a key member of our staff for the past six years and was extremely helpful as we made the transition to D2. She is a natural leader and has earned the respect of the entire athletic department in a short period of time. Jessica is the consummate team player who is deserving of this promotion and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this rising star," said Lee Athletic Director Larry Carpenter.
After graduation McIntyre worked for a year at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Office in Indianapolis, Ind. as an Academic and Membership Affairs Intern. Among other responsibilities she helped analyze and process Student-Athlete Reinstatement requests including Amateurism Certification Process cases, Hardship waivers, Season of Competition waivers, and Clock Extension requests from Division I, II and III institutions.
"I am truly honored to be entrusted with this new and exciting leadership role within the Lee University Athletic Department," said McIntyre. "I would like to sincerely thank Dr. Conn, Cole Strong and Coach Carpenter for their continued confidence in me. Lee University has become my home and it is an absolute privilege to work alongside such an exceptional group of administrators, coaches and student-athletes."
