Lester C. Fields, Sr., 80, of Cleveland, passed away at his home on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021.
He was the only child born to the late Thomas and Sadie Rae Fields in Pitt County, N.C.
Lester grew up near the ocean in North Carolina and loved spending weekends with his family at the beach. After moving to Tennessee, he enjoyed sitting on the river bank fishing.
Lester has lived in Tennessee for 45 years and was a roofer by trade. He and his wife, Shelia, were married for 30 years. Between the two of them, they had six children, all of whom will miss Lester dearly.
Those left to survive Lester are his wife, Sheila; children: Shirley Jean Williams (Darrell), Carolyn Rae Gibson (Jeffrey), Lester Carroll Fields Jr., Dee Whiddon (Autumn), Jennifer Garlinghouse and Tiffany Jones (Dennis); his spoiled dog “Lightning”; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grand-children.
A Celebration of Lester’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road N.W., Cleveland, TN 37311. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will immediately follow in the Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Delano.
