Lillie 'Delvena' Arp


Lillie “Delvena” Arp, 82, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018. 

She was born on Oct. 27, 1935, to the late Jonah P. and Dolly Mae Sledge. 

Delvena has been a resident of Cleveland since 1948. She was a member of East Cleveland Baptist Church.  

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her infant son, David; brothers: Mearl Sledge, Elbert Sledge, Fred Sledge, and Alvin Sledge; and sisters: Ruby Sledge, Ruth Sledge, and infant sister, Billie Jo Sledge. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 63 years, James Arp Sr.; son, James Arp Jr.; brother, Jackie Sledge; sisters, Jean Nix, Mary Leonard (Everett), and Barbara Bullard (Ronnie); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
The family received friends Tuesday at East Cleveland Baptist Church located at 1145 Arnold Street N.E., Cleveland, TN 37311. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 21, 2018, at the church with the Rev. Joe Lockman and the Rev. Larry Chastain officiating.

Interment will follow the service in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Ranger, N.C.
