Merle 'Sandy' Ometer

Merle “Sandy” Ometer, 73, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at the family residence.  

She was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Bird Club in Cleveland.  She enjoyed spending her time volunteering at the animal shelter and the vet’s office. Ometer was a talented and recognized artist.    

She was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Adeline Feldman Pollack; and daughters: Heather Wilke and Lisa Barnes.

She is survived by her husband, David L. Ometer of Cleveland; children: Mindy Barnes, of Placerville, Calif., Holly Chasteen (Bob), of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Corry Guffey (Jamie), of Kingsport; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; stepchildren: Gary Ometer, of Virginia, Diane Ometer, of Columbus, Ohio, and Gregory Ometer, of Mansfield, Ohio; brother, Glenn Pollack of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law, Lynne Ometer of Atlanta, Ga., and foster son, Scott Schwartz of New York. 

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Monday at the church prior to the service.
