Michael E. Frederick


Michael Edward Frederick, 74, a resident of McDonald, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, in a local health care facility, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He was born in South Carolina and lived most of his life in McDonald. He was the son of the late Frances E. Westmoreland Frederick and Lawrence E. Frederick. His sister, Marsha McDaniel, also preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having graduated from Parris Island (S.C.) Training Facility in 1960 and he was honorable discharged in 1964. He enjoyed woodworking, watching football, camping and he enjoyed working on classic cars. He was an avid fan of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Michael was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in McDonald.

Survivors include his daughter, Mitzi Cordell; his son, Anthony Frederick; his grandchildren: Wade Cordell, Levi Cordell and Autumn Cordell; his sister, Carolyn Cox; his brother, Timothy Frederick; and his wife, Cathy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. from the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, Wildwood Chapel, with Pastor Gary Thacker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in McDonald with family and friends serving as casket bearers. Military honors will be given.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.
