One of the two people accused in the armed robbery of an individual at the Mountain View Inn Friday has been arrested.
Cleveland Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Evie West identified the suspect as Demetrius Osborne.
West said that on Friday, at approximately 10:33 a.m., CPD officers responded to the robbery call, and spoke with a male victim who said two individuals — a male and a female — robbed him at gunpoint. The victim said that he had given the two suspects a ride to a local restaurant, and ended up at the hotel.
During the robbery at the hotel, the suspects reportedly took the victim's wallet, cash and iPhone. Following interviews conducted by officers, it was determined that Osborne was the main suspect.
While completing the initial investigation, Officer Matt Sharp was able to locate the suspect at the rear of Cleveland Skate Place within two hours of the reported robbery. Since Osborne was reportedly armed, the Cleveland City Schools system placed both Cleveland Middle School and Cleveland High School on "soft lockdown," meaning that while activities within the schools continued, access to the schools was monitored closely.
Further investigation led to other witnesses who said they observed Osborne in the area, which led officers to an apartment located on Fletcher Drive, according to West. Officers found the residence had been burglarized. The items taken from the residence were positively identified of those found in the possession of Osborne, as well as the wallet, cash and iPhone taken in the robbery.
All items were returned to the victims. Osborne was placed in custody, charged with robbery and burglary and taken to the Bradley County Justice Center. The female suspect was not captured by the police, and is still being sought, West said.
