Pizza robbery suspects due in court Tuesday

Three men charged with aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy in connection with Friday’s assault on a pizza delivery person will appear in court Tuesday.

The delay is due to no court sessions being held today in Bradley County General Sessions Court because of the New Year’s holiday.

As reported over the weekend on the Cleveland Daily Banner website, the Cleveland Police Department’s SWAT team’s negotiations with the three suspects who reportedly robbed the pizza delivery person Friday evening led to their arrests.

Sgt. Evie West, public information for the Cleveland Police Department, said that the SWAT team responded to the scene of the robbery. She said that the Emergency 911 Communications Center received a phone call just before 9 p.m. Friday to the Blythewood Apartments on Stephens Road where the Domino’s pizza delivery driver was reportedly robbed.

Police reported Saturday that a handgun, knife and pizzas were stolen from the delivery driver, and information was given that the three men who were involved in the robbery may have entered a nearby apartment.

Cleveland Police officers attempted at first to talk with the suspects, and when that proved unsuccessful in the trio being taken into custody, the CPD’s SWAT team responded to the scene and continued negotiations with the individuals inside the apartment.

Soon after these negotiations began, two of the individuals inside the apartment came out to turn themselves in to the police, according to the CPD report.

Consent was given to enter the apartment, and several other individuals were located inside. West said the stolen handgun, knife and pizzas were found inside the apartment. Only one of the others inside the apartment was arrested, police said.

The three individuals allegedly involved in the incident were identified as Kevin Bowens, 18; Marques Jimerson, 22; and Matthew Garman, 19. Each was charged with aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy.
