Rick Lee Fox, 66, of Ooltewah, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Hospice of Chattanooga, after suffering many years from the complications of cardiovascular disease.

He was born Sept. 23, 1951, in Indianapolis, Ind., and graduated from Fulton High School and the Tennessee Institute of Electronics in Knoxville. He was baptized at Edgemoor Baptist Church in Clinton, and is currently a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He retired from the Mueller Company in Chattanooga, and was dedicated to his beloved family and friends.

He loved his family and was always the comedian. He especially enjoyed working on his small farm, hunting, camping, and teaching his grandchildren how to cook. In his earlier years, he coached Little League Baseball in Claxton and served on the board of the Claxton Optimist Club.

He never met a stranger and was always involved in community events and volunteered with the Cleveland Civitan Club as much as possible, especially during the annual Special Olympics in Bradley County when his health allowed. He served on the board of the Mill Run Homeowners Association for several years. As his health waned, he became close to his expanded healthcare team and laughingly called his many visits his “field trips.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl and Gladys Easter Fox; and grandparents, Bradley and Ina Easter and Henry M. and Vayle Fox.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Veronica Cook Fox; son and wife, David E. and Tiffany Fox of Jeffersonville, Ind.; daughter, Gena L. Everett of Ooltewah; grandchildren: Scarlett Elizabeth Shell and Savannah Paige Allen of Ooltewah, Mahailey Grace Fox, and Benjamin Andrew and wife, Jessica, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; great-granddaughter, Brelynn Alexia Fox; brothers: Randy A. Fox of North Carolina and Timothy R. and wife, Pam Fox, of Knoxville; nephews: Dan Pollard and Kristopher Fox of North Carolina and Zackary Fox of Knoxville.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel in Maynardville with the Rev. Greg Sharp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Interment will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Sharps Chapel. Pallbearers are Drew Fox, Drew Brown, Bill Hitch, David Allen, Zac Fox, and Patrick Main. Honorary Pallbearers are his longtime friends Dickie Saleeby, Dave Rauen, and Butch Lane.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnson Family Cemetery Trust, c/o Gene Cook, 530 Old Emory Road, Clinton, Tennessee 37716, or to the Cleveland Civitan Club, PO Box 529, Cleveland.

Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
