Robert Lee Hiefnar, 78, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Spring City Care and Rehab.
He was a son of the late Creed and Opal Sewell Hiefnar, and was of the Baptist faith. Robert was retired from the construction industry where he worked as a laborer for many years and was a well known logger.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lowe Hiefnar of Decatur; a son, Alan Hiefnar, and his wife, Amber, of Merritt Island, Fla.; daughter, Jessica Hiefnar of Knoxville; brothers: Donald Heifnar and Norris Hiefnar, both of Decatur; a sister, Sue Womack of Decatur; four grandchildren: Colton Hiefnar, Trenton Edwards, Jessica Goodwin and Kaitlyn Goodwin; and several nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Guffey and the Rev. Paul Fox officiating.
Interment will be in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Noon. Alan Hiefnar, Michael "Fat Boy" White, Johnny Fairbanks, Tim McCarty, Charlie Kyle, Bud Moore and Terry Hayes will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Bowers Funeral Home prior to the services.
