Robert Junior Pierce, 80, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, in a local hospital.

He was a member of Eagles Chapel Church, and a former employee of Cleveland State Community College, who served in the security department.

He was retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years, five months and 11 days of service.

He was the son of the late Robert Andrew Pierce and Bertha Berton Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: William Pierce, Haskell Pierce, Iona Hudgins, Willie Ruth Williams and Mildred Brumblow.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lillie Mae Carroll Pierce of Cleveland; children: Beverly Allen and husband, Clint, Jeff Pierce, Bruce Pierce, and Debbie Martin and husband, Mitchell, all of Cleveland; four grandchildren whom he loved: Brittany York and husband, Jason, Tiffany Rattler and husband, Ammons, Chesley Pierce and Tiffany Pierce; four great-grandchildren: Miyah, Layla, Sasha and Trinity; and several nieces and nephews; and his favorite niece, Joyce Kennedy, who loved him very much — she always called him “Paw,” and he always depended on her.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Beaty officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
