The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office will offer those opportunities for youngsters at its SOS [Sheriff’s Office Summer] Camp in July.
The deadline to apply for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office's SOS Camp is July 5.
The camp is a weeklong program consisting of a mix of indoor and outdoor activities with a strong emphasis on ethics and decision making. The program is designed for grades three through eighth.
There will be two programs available. The week of July 16-20 will be for grades six, seven and eight. The week of July 23-27 will be for grades three, four and five.
Camp hours will be Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon. Doors to the camp, held at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, will open each day at 8:45 a.m.
During the weeklong high-energy classes, participating children will be involved with various exhibits and demonstrations which include:
• Tour of BCSO’s facility • K-9 Demonstration • How to Report a Crime • Crime-Scene Gathering • Operations within the Judicial Complex • Fingerprinting • Basic First-Aid Training • Overview of the Operations of the Ambulance & Fire Truck apparatuses.
Upon completion, Sheriff Eric Watson will present participants with a certificate during a ceremony held with their families. Graduations will be each Friday at 10 am. Parents and Caregivers are invited to attend.
Campers should arrive no later than 8:45 for sign-in and registration. Camp activities will begin sharply at 9 and end at noon. Snacks and lunch will be served. Children must be picked up by 12:20 pm.
