‘Special Angel’ celebrates recovery year

On July 8, 2016, Kaye Williams suffered a nearly fatal heart attack.

She had fluid on her heart and a problem with her valves. The doctors at Memorial Hospital brought her back to life twice, she said.

After she was released from the hospital, she did several months of rehabilitation.

Williams was told as a child she had a heart murmur, so she knew she had a heart problem. She was often told she could not do things because of the problem, she said.

Today, Williams, who likes to be called “Special Angel,” is celebrating a year of recovery.

The “Special Angel” name came from her late mother, Alice Marie Davis, who told Williams she was a blessing and a “special angel.” Davis died the day before her birthday on March 13, 1992.

Williams said her mother would always wear a smile.

She was an “awesome mama,” Williams noted. “I miss her a lot.”

Williams and her husband, Clifford, reside in Ocoee.
