‘The Remedy’ effectively communicates God’s law of love

Chattanooga — As all Bible students know, Scripture tells us that God is Love (1 John 4:8). But what many have not considered, and what this volume acknowledges, is that when God built His universe, He built it to operate in harmony with His own nature of love.

The construction protocol on which God built His universe is known as God's Law. But this truth was lost, and human imposed law concept infected Christian thought after the emperor Constantine converted to Christianity.

For centuries translations of the New Testament, rather than effectively communicating the principles of love, have introduced the human "imposed law” construct that emphasizes external punishment for rule breaking.

Psychiatrist, international speaker and author Dr. Timothy R. Jennings, M.D., returns to that message of love in an extended paraphrase of the New Testament, The Remedy.

Dr. Jennings' paraphrase of Scripture communicates God's healing plan through the lens of God's law of love. Unlike "imposed law,” God's law of love is understood to be the design protocols life is built upon. Harmony brings life and health, whereas divergence brings pain, suffering and death — unless remedied. Thus the remedy —Jesus Christ — sent by God to heal and fix what is broken in humanity and restore us to life and health.

Throughout his extensive career as a Christian psychiatrist, Jennings has treated thousands of patients who believed in God but struggled to trust him, and too often feared him. As a result, they suffered through depression, despair and dysfunction. The revolutionary and healing approach to Scripture in The Remedy is meant as a gift to readers searching desperately for a genuine trust experience with a God who is love.

Jennings is a board-certified Christian psychiatrist, master psychopharmacologist, international speaker, author, Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Life-Fellow of the Southern Psychiatric Association. He obtained his master of MD degree in 1990 from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He completed his psychiatric residency at D.D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Ga., and has served as the division psychiatrist for the Third Infantry Division.

He is married and lives in Chattanooga ,where he is in private practice. Jennings is also the president and founder of Come and Reason Ministries and has served as president of the Southern Psychiatric Association and Tennessee Psychiatric Association.

His other books include “Could It Be This Simple? A Biblical Model for Healing the Mind,” “The Journal of the Watcher” and “The God-Shaped Brain: How Changing Your View of God Transforms Your Life.”
