Threat resulted in added police presence at CHS

More police than normal were at Cleveland High School Friday morning following a threat one student apparently made against another.

Cleveland Police Chief Mark Gibson said Friday there was an alleged threat posted online against a student, and School Resource Officer Brian Montgomery checked into the situation and found the threat to be unfounded.

Gibson praised Montgomery for working diligently to check into the situation.

“I still asked for extra police presented this morning,” Cleveland City Schools Director Dr. Russell Dyer said. “We will always err on the side of safety where our staff and students are concerned.”

It was not known if any charges were placed against anyone in the incident.
