COOKEVILLE — Two members of the Tennessee Tech women's golf team have been recognized as All-American Scholars for 2016-17 by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Allyson Dunn and Lydia Triplett were among the collegiate golfers recognized with the prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

"I am very proud of Allyson and Lydia for receiving this award," said Golden Eagle head coach Polk Brown. "They have done outstanding work in the classroom, which is signified by the honor.

“They are outstanding young ladies. I look forward to having Allyson back in August and can't wait to see Lydia grow as she takes that first step in her post-graduate career."

The two Golden Eagle golfers were among a group 22 from the Ohio Valley Conference included in the 952 players chosen from throughout every NCAA Division as well as NAIA schools.

A junior from Kingsport, Dunn completed one of the better single-season showing in Tech history, wrapping up the year with a team-best scoring average of 76.57.

Majoring in cellular and molecular biology, Dunn owns a 3.93 GPA.

Triplett, a native of Benton, completed her senior season with a career-low scoring average of 79.22.

She graduated in the spring with a degree in nursing while sporting a 3.61 GPA throughout her four-year career.

She completed 27 of the team's 30 rounds in 2016-17, with a season-best 74-76-75=225 at the GolfWeek Program Challenge.

A three-time TSSAA State Tournament qualifier, including finishing sixth her junior season at Polk County High School, Triplett is currently employed by Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, working in the Cardiac Unit.

The daughter of Bill and Linda Triplett was also a WGCA All-American Scholar for 2014-15 school year, plus was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll six times and the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.
