CPD seeks information on Halloween shooting

The Cleveland Police Department is asking anyone with information on a Halloween night shooting on Stephens Road to call them as they proceed with the investigation.

The incident occurred just before midnight Tuesday, according to CPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Evie West.

She said officers responded to 3720 Stephens Road, Apartment 54, the scene of a reported shooting.

Once officers arrived, they found 36-year-old Desmon Benton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Benton was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for treatment. His condition was not immediately available.

Benton could not provide any suspect details at the scene, according to West. Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, collected numerous items of evidence and interviewed family members of the victim. The investigation continues.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Detective Daniel Gibbs at 423-559-3393.
