Virginia Evans Chism

Virginia Evans Chism of Cleveland, born March 26, 1945, daughter of Benjamin D. Chism Sr. and Martha Nelle McGehee Chism, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, after battling cancer for several years.

Survivors are one brother, Ben D. Chism Jr. and his wife, Faye Yates Chism; niece, Bethany Chism; nephew, Scott Chism (Hayley); and many extended family members and cousins.

She was presently a member of Big Spring Baptist Church of Cleveland and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

She held a 1968 bachelor of science degree from Tennessee Wesleyan University in business education and office administration. She was a 30-year teacher in McMinn and Bradley County; part-time teacher at Cleveland State Community College evening division; and the administrative assistant/secretary at First Lutheran Church of 10.5 years.

Her 2015 present battle with cancer has ended now in Heaven.

The funeral will be at Big Spring Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at 2 p.m., with ministers Pastor Daniel Malone and the Rev. Tom Wickes officiating. A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Big Spring Baptist Church and Sunday School Class members. Honorary PpYou are invited to share a personal memory of Virginia or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com.
