On Sept. 24 at 10:30 a.m., West Cleveland Baptist Church will hold its 75th anniversary celebration service.

All former and current members, as well as members of the community, are invited to join in this exciting celebration to honor this important milestone n the history of the church.

West Cleveland Baptist church began in 1942 and was originally located at the corner of Victory Drive and Westland Drive in the building that now houses Victory Drive Church of God.

On June 25, 1980, church members broke ground for the current building at 1959 Westland Drive. The first service in the new building was held on New Year’s Eve, 1980.

Former pastors Arris Cavender, who served as pastor of West Cleveland BC from 1985-2006, and Sam Melton, who served the church from 1966-68, and again from 1969-72, have been invited to attend the celebration.

A special presentation and recognition of remaining original members and other honored guests will be included in the service, as well as a message to be delivered by current pastor, Matt Ward, who is also a chaplain in the Army National Guard. He has served as the pastor of West Cleveland Baptist church since 2012.

A fellowship meal will follow the service.

The church is located on Westland Drive.
