William Eugene McKnight

William “Bill” Eugene McKnight, 87, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 12, 1930, to William Tellas and Lillian King McKnight in Charleston. He lived a simple life and was a good example of keeping it uncomplicated. He was a very relational person who loved people and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston.

William was preceded in death by his parents, William Tellas and Lillian King McKnight; brother, Stewart Jackson McKnight; sister-in-law, Polly McKnight; uncle, George Johnson McKnight Sr.; cousin, George Johnson McKnight Jr.; and niece, Vonnie McKnight.

He is survived by his aunt, Barbara S. McKnight; cousin, Reese J. McKnight and his family, wife, Patricia McKnight, and children, Jason R. McKnight, Gregory G. McKnight (Lauren), and Austin McKnight; and great-niece, Christy Wilson, and her family, husband, Dale Wilson, and child, Austin Wilson.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, in the chapel of Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home with Bishop Ron Lesley officiating. Interment will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 2, 2017, at the funeral home.
