Lee University alumni will gather on campus Nov. 5-7 for Homecoming 2010, a celebratory event featuring class and club reunions, athletic events, as well as exclusive musical and theatrical performances.

The classes of 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000 will be highlighted. A Legacy Reunion is on schedule to feature all graduation classes from 1918-1965, and specifically honoring the class of 1960.

Additionally, the Ladies of Lee will be celebrating its 45th reunion with an alumni reception, while the Lee Chorale will commemorate its 10th anniversary.

Opening the weekend festivities, golfers are invited to be a part of the second annual Alumni Golf Classic at Chatata Valley Golf Course on Nov. 5 at 8 a.m. Registration, which includes a box lunch, is $50 per golfer or $200 per team.

The Lady Flames volleyball team will host its fourth annual Volley For a Cure, a thrilling event that has raised more than $44,000 to help find a cure for breast cancer. The Lady Flames will battle Southern Wesleyan in the Walker Arena on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.

A romantic comedy set in the mythical town of “Almost, Maine,” the fall production of Lee University Theatre, will be performed three times over the course of Homecoming Weekend. The play, titled after the town, will be held in the Dixon Center at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; meanwhile, Sunday will feature a 2 p.m. matinee showing.

Homecoming 2010 also has new events scheduled including Music Festival: 50 Years of Worship. The music festival this year will be a celebration of the rich church music tradition at Lee. It will include performances by groups such as Campus Choir, Lee Singers, Voices of Lee, Evangelistic Singers, and Ladies of Lee. Danny Murray will serve as the program’s emcee, another new feature of the evening.

Finally, instead of presenting the Alumni of the Year award at the President’s Circle luncheon, this year it will be taken back to the music festival where it was for many years.

Another new event is a tailgate party on the Walker Arena lawn that will precede the basketball games on Saturday afternoon.

For alumni who are not able to attend the festivities, a virtual homecoming will allow Lee alumni to view some of the biggest Homecoming events through live streaming. These events include the Legacy Reunion, the opening basketball game, and the Music Festival.

Other homecoming events include the Flames baseball reunion, a Lady Flames playoff soccer match, and much more.
