Achten, a junior from Franklin, powered the Lee offense with three goals and three assists in a 5-1 win over Shorter University on Thursday, and a 6-0 win at Brewton-Parker College on Saturday. This is her first Player of the Week award this season, after winning twice in 2009.
The Lady Flames’ captain will lead her team as they begin the postseason portion of their National Title defense this weekend, hosting the first round of the SSAC Tournament. Faulkner University will visit the Lee Soccer Field for a match slated for 5 p.m.

For the fourth consecutive week, the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) has selected a member of the Lady Flames Volleyball team as their Player of the Week. This week the honor goes to Arlene Ferreira, her third such award this season.
The Lady Flames continued their undefeated season last week with five wins, four of those coming at the Boneyard Brawl in Georgetown, Ky. The most impressive performance for Ferreira came in a five-set win over No.11 Taylor University. For the match, she recorded 24 kills and 28 digs, leading the Lady Flames to the come from behind victory.
Ferreira also recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs in the win over Campbellsville University, earning her a place on the Boneyard Brawl All-Tournament Team. For the week, Ferreira recorded 59 kills, 75 digs, nine aces, two blocks and eight block assists.
The Lee ladies will get some much-needed rest this week before hosting their annual Volley for a Cure match this Friday. There will be events throughout the afternoon, with the finale coming in prime time as the Lady Flames will close out their regular season schedule against Southern Wesleyan University.
