It was also senior night at the Lee Soccer Field as the Lady Flames honored Kristi Koudelka, Samantha Hare and Chelsea Eisnaugle, in a pregame ceremony. All three Lady Flame seniors have played their entire career in the maroon and white.
Still ranked second in the latest NAIA poll, Lee (16-2) got on the board early, as freshman Ashley Aragona sent in a shot past Faulkner goalkeeper, Caitlin Sebert. The 14th minute goal was the only score of the first half, as the Lady Flames and Lady Eagles went quiet for the final 30 minutes.
The second half was a different story. The Lady Flames came out firing from the start, scoring three goals in the first 16 minutes of the frame. Aragona scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season, with the assist going to fellow-freshman Danielle Ciabattone. Katrine Korsgaard added an unassisted goal in minute No.58, and Ciabattone added her seventh goal of the season, on a cross from junior Jamie Achten.
Faulkner finally got on the board in the 75th minute as Jennifer Parrot chipped a shot from just outside the box over Lee goalkeeper, Kristi Koudelka. The assist was credited to Latoya Panton.
The final score of the match came in the final minute from Ode Fulutudilu. Chelsea Eisnaugle and Caroline Scales were credited with the double assist on Fulutudilu’s eighth goal of the season.
For the match, Lee outshot Faulkner 23-5, with all of the Lady Eagles’ shots coming in the second half. 12 of Lee’s shots were on goal, while Faulkner’s goal was their only shot on target.
The Lee ladies are undefeated in SSAC regular season and postseason play, and will compete Thursday in the semifinals of the SSAC Tournament in Gulfport, Miss.
