In traditional musical fashion, the band will take concertgoers on a trip, this time with a full calendar of holidays.
Featured performers will include the singers, “Cleveland State Vocal Rhapsody,” directed by Karen Dale, and Cleveland’s bag pipe artist, Brad Collins.
The band, now in its fourth season, will present Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite for Military in F Major,” by performing the “IV Suite Fantasia” on the “Dargason.” Always prone to innovation, the band is having Collins set the introductory mood for this classic composition by showcasing his bagpipe talent.
Expanding the concert theme, “Spend the Holidays with Us,” the band will perform music representing major holidays throughout the year. Composers Sousa, Holst, Ward, Clark, Lambert, Elfman, and Swearingen have given us music to celebrate the patriotic, religious and ethnic days on our calendars.
The Greater Cleveland Concert Band is the concert band of the city of Cleveland. Admission to the 7 p.m. concert is free, with a program appropriate for all ages. Information the band and concert is available by phoning 423-614-0060.
