Graveside service was held today, Nov. 24, 2010, at the Clayton Cemetery with the Rev. John Duke officiating.
The funeral was under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Knoxville, the youngest of six children born to the marriage of Lester Arnold and Laura Virginia Ramsey Wrinkle Sr.
He received his bachelor of arts degree from Stephen F. Austin University and his master of arts degree from New York University. He taught high school English for 32 years in Fort Wingate, N.M., Mabank and Kirbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by his son, John Michael Wrinkle and wife, Anthea, of Sachse; daughters: Anna Maria Chavez and husband, Esco, of Gallup, N.M., and Lydia Ruth Duke and husband, John, of Brandon, Miss.; six grandchildren: Timothy Daniel Wrinkle of Greensboro, N.C., Rachel Margaret Wrinkle Antrikin of Tulsa, Okla., John Christopher Duke of Brandon, Miss., Hannah Holland Duke, also of Brandon, William Daniel Oliver of Gallup, N.M., and Michael David Oliver, also of Gallup; four great-grandchildren: Audrey Ann Wrinkle, James Asher Wrinkle, Benjamin Harvey Wrinkle and William Lewis Antrikin IV; niece, Evelyn Cross of North Carolina; other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
