The Lee University School of Music presents its 22nd annual “A Classic Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Highlighting the concert are the university’s Choral Union, Chorale, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Children’s Chorale and special guest The Metropolitan Bells.

“This year’s presentation features music that will ring in the hearts of us all,” says Dr. William Green, who is conducting the performance. “The program is filled with traditional carols that are beautifully set for choir and orchestra that look at the many facets and traditions of the holiday season. This is always an exciting way for our community to gather together as we celebrate this joyous season.”

The Choral Union, a choir of 150 vocalists, will be joined by the members of the Symphony Orchestra to present the Robert Shaw

“Many Moods of Christmas” festival suites. These suites are collections of Christmas carols which have been holiday classics ever since Robert Shaw first recorded them with his Chorale during the early ‘60s.

This celebration will also feature the Symphonic Band, directed by Mark Bailey, and vocal forces of the Lee University Chorale, conducted by Dr. Green and the Children’s Chorale under the direction of Sarah Burris. Featured guests will be the acclaimed Metropolitan Bells, directed by Gary Bynum.

Admission to “A Classic Christmas” is free of charge, but tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets can be obtained at the Dixon Center box office from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. Any remaining tickets will be available in the Conn Center lobby at 2 p.m., one hour before the performance. For will-call service, call (423) 614-8343 during box office hours.
